Art on the Prairie: The Weekend Warrenville Turns Into an Art Town
Every September, the parking lot at the Warrenville Park District Recreation Center stops being a parking lot for a weekend. Tents go up, easels come out, and Art on the Prairie turns the corner of Warren Avenue into the town's own little art fair. This year it runs Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, starting at 10 a.m. each day, and admission is free. What it actually is
Art on the Prairie is a juried fine art fair, which means the artists you see were selected for the show and their work gets reviewed for awards over the weekend. That keeps the quality high without making the event feel fancy. You will find Midwest artists working in photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, prints, and more, and nearly all of it is for sale at prices that range from stocking stuffer to statement piece.
In past years the fair has added live music and dance on an entertainment stage, artist demos, children's activities, and food vendors, so it works just as well as a family outing as it does an art shopping trip.
