Your Week Ahead in Warrenville: August 21 - 27

Happy Friday, Warrenville. School is back in swing, the library has a genuinely packed slate of free programs, and there are two chances this weekend to swap a dance dress instead of buying one. Here is what is worth putting on the calendar over the next seven days. Details do shift, so give the official link a quick look before you head out.

Friday, August 21: Toddler playdate and the dress swap opens

The morning belongs to the little ones. Toddler Playdate runs 10:30 to 11:30 at the library for kids roughly 1 and a half to 3, with toys and activities already set out so you can just show up. Later, the School Dance Dress Swap opens from 4:00 to 6:30. Friday evening is early access for anyone bringing a dress to donate, and any size or style is welcome.

Saturday, August 22: Dress swap, round two

If Friday does not work, the dress swap is open again Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00. With homecoming season coming up fast, this is a good one to catch before the racks thin out.

Monday, August 24: Know Your Rights

World Relief Chicagoland presents a bilingual Know Your Rights session at the library from 6:00 to 7:00, covering what your rights are during encounters with immigration or law enforcement. It is free and aimed at adults.

Tuesday, August 25: Silent Book Club and teen D and D

Two good options on the same night. Silent Book Club meets at Two Brothers Brewing from 6:00 to 7:00: bring whatever you are already reading, ages 21 and up, and nobody expects you to have finished anything. Meanwhile, Teen Dungeons and Dragons runs 6:00 to 8:00 at the library for grades 6 through 12, and new players are welcome mid-campaign.

Wednesday, August 26: Baby Picasso, Genealogy Club, and a caregiver meet-up

A busy day at the library. Baby Picasso at 10:30 lets kids birth to age 2 make something small and messy, with stories while it dries. Genealogy Club meets 2:00 to 3:30 for adults chasing down family history, so bring the branch you are stuck on. In the evening, the Caregivers of Neurodivergent Individuals Meet-Up runs 6:00 to 7:00, a supportive drop-in for parents and caregivers to compare notes and share resources.

Thursday, August 27: Sensory storytime and a paint night

Wriggle and Read Sensory Storytime is at 11:00, a free sensory-friendly storytime presented with the team from Instructional ABA, open to all ages and all wiggling. That evening, Paint with Pinot's Palette runs 6:00 to 7:00, where a local artist walks adults through a beach scene step by step. Materials provided, no experience needed.

Friday, August 28: Crochet Club and a pajama party

Teens in grades 6 through 12 can drop into Crochet Club from 4:30 to 6:00, all skill levels, materials included. Then the week ends the right way with a Pajama Party at 5:30 for kids birth to age 8: coziest pajamas, a favorite stuffed animal, bedtime stories, and songs.

Looking ahead

The last Concerts on the Commons of the season lands Wednesday, September 2 with Sushi Roll at Bob Walters Commons, 6:00 to 7:30. Bring a chair. And mark the weekend of September 12 and 13 for Art on the Prairie, the Park District's two day outdoor art fair at the Recreation Center. Full listings are always on our events page.

As always, confirm times before you go. Calendars change.
