Your Week Ahead in Warrenville: August 24 - 30
Good morning, Warrenville. This week leans on the library's free programming, with something for toddlers, teens, caregivers, and anyone who wants to paint a beach scene on a Thursday night. As always, details can shift, so confirm times at the source links before you go.
Monday, August 24: Know Your Rights (bilingual)
World Relief Chicagoland presents a free bilingual session for adults on your rights during encounters with immigration or law enforcement, 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Warrenville Public Library. Practical, free, and open to all.
Tuesday, August 25: quiet books and loud dice
Two very different evenings to pick from. Silent Book Club meets at Two Brothers Brewing from 6:00 to 7:00 PM: bring whatever you are already reading and enjoy an hour of quiet company (ages 21 and up). Meanwhile back at the library, Teen Dungeons and Dragons runs 6:00 to 8:00 PM for grades 6 through 12, newcomers welcome.
Wednesday, August 26: a full day at the library
Three worth knowing about. Baby Picasso (10:30 to 11:00 AM) lets the under-2 crowd make a little art before stories and rhymes. The Genealogy Club meets 2:00 to 3:30 PM for anyone stuck on a family history puzzle. And in the evening, the Caregivers of Neurodivergent Individuals Meet-Up (6:00 to 7:00 PM) offers a supportive space to trade what is working and which local resources actually help.
Thursday, August 27: wiggle in the morning, paint at night
Wriggle and Read Sensory Storytime (11:00 to 11:30 AM) is a free, sensory-friendly storytime where wiggling is encouraged. In the evening, Paint with Pinot's Palette (6:00 to 7:00 PM) walks adults through a beach scene step by step. No experience needed and materials are provided.
Friday, August 28: cozy close to the week
Teens in grades 6 through 12 can pick up a hook at Crochet Club (4:30 to 6:00 PM), and the littlest readers get a Pajama Party from 5:30 to 6:15 PM: coziest pajamas, favorite stuffed animal, bedtime stories and songs.
Looking ahead
Monday the 31st brings Books on Tap at Rock Bottom (7:00 PM) and a practical Style Your Kid's Hair workshop at the library (6:00 PM). Then summer gives us one more gift: a free Concert on the Commons with Sushi Roll on Wednesday, September 2 at 6:00 PM on Bob Walters Commons. And circle September 12 and 13 for Art on the Prairie, the Park District's two day outdoor art fair. One housekeeping note: city offices and the police lobby are closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.
Have a great week, neighbors.
