Week Ahead

Your Week Ahead in Warrenville: Sep 14 - Sep 20

Welcome to the middle of September, Warrenville. The big art weekend is behind us, and this week settles into the everyday rhythm of the town: library programs, a couple of city meetings, and a fun Friday and Saturday at the Rec Center. Here is what is on the calendar for the next seven days. As always, confirm times with the organizer before you head out, since details can change.

Monday, September 14: Adult Dungeons & Dragons

The library's ongoing campaign for players 18 and up meets from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. If you have been curious about tabletop gaming, this is a friendly place to start. Details at the library events page.

Wednesday, September 16: Seasons with The Morton Arboretum, plus a scam-spotting class

Two good ones at the library. At 10:30 AM, Arboretum educators bring a hands-on nature program for little ones. At 2:00 PM, the Computer Class for Seniors covers how to recognize web scams, which is worth an hour for anyone who has ever gotten a suspicious text. Both are listed on the library calendar.

Thursday, September 17: Screenings, a movie, and the arts commission

The library offers free developmental screenings for young children from 10:30 AM to noon, then Reel Talk screens and discusses Almost Famous starting at 6:00 PM. Over at City Hall, the Tourism and Arts Commission meets at 6:00 PM, and residents are welcome to listen in. Find those on the library page and the city calendar.

Friday, September 18: Pajama Party and Puzzle Palooza

Kids can come in pajamas for stories and songs at the library from 5:30 to 6:15 PM. Then the grown-ups get their turn: Puzzle Palooza, Adult Edition, runs 6:00 to 8:30 PM at the Park District Recreation Center, where teams race to finish a jigsaw. Ages 21 and up; register through the Park District. The library also has a take-home papel picado banner craft kit available that day for adults.

Saturday, September 19: Family Nerf Night

The Rec Center gym turns into a foam-dart arena from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Bring your own blaster and eye protection, and register ahead with the Park District. Earlier in the day, the library brings its Biblioteca en la lavanderia program to The Laundry Room from 11:00 AM to noon.

Sunday, September 20: Coffee, books, and a music matinee

Spill the Beans, the library's casual book meet-up, gathers at Cora Coffee & Tea from 11:00 AM to noon. Then at 2:00 PM the Sunday Music Matinee at the library features Dennis Motyka playing hits from 1954 to 1974. Free, all ages. Details on the library events page.

Looking ahead

Next week brings the City Council meeting on Monday, September 21, the Halloween Costume Exchange at the library on September 25 and 26, and the Park District's new Fall Frenzy Softball Tournament the same weekend, with the Healthy Heroes Kids Fair on Saturday morning, September 26. See you around town.
