Your Week Ahead in Warrenville: Oct 5 - Oct 11

Good morning, Warrenville. October is settling in, and this week the library gets spooky while City Hall stays busy. Here is what is on the calendar from Monday, October 5 through Sunday, October 11, pulled from the official city, library, and Park District pages. Details can change, so confirm times before you head out.

Monday, October 5

Start the week with Storytime at Starbucks at 10:00 AM, a short, easy outing for little ones, then pick up a Personalized Book Bag at the library any time that day. In the evening, the City Council meets at 6:30 PM at City Hall, and the adult Dungeons & Dragons campaign picks back up at the library from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Wednesday, October 7

At 7:00 PM, the library hosts a talk on the history of St. James Farm, a good pick for anyone who loves local lore and a nice autumn walk through the preserve.

Thursday, October 8

The Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7:00 PM at City Hall. If you are curious about what might be built or changed around town, this is where those conversations start, and the public is welcome.

Friday through Sunday, October 9 to 11

The big one this week is the Library Haunted House. It opens Friday, October 9 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, then runs Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, and continues Monday the 12th. You can go through alone or in a group of up to five, in timed groups. If jump scares are not your thing, the library also offers quieter sensory hours from 10:00 AM to noon on Friday and Saturday (and Monday the 12th).

Saturday evening, the Park District hosts Puzzle Palooza: Family Edition from 5:00 to 7:30 PM in the Recreation Center gym, a friendly competition for puzzle fans of all ages.

Looking ahead

Next week brings the Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission on the 13th, free developmental screenings and a senior prom the following Thursday, and the Tony Malia Pickleball Classic starting October 16. Then Fall Fest arrives October 30. You can always see the full list on our events page.
